Menyh\u00e9rt Kr\u00f3zser matched the pace of the KZ2 frontrunners in the opening round of the FIA Karting European Championship. Although a broken chain forced him to retire from the final, the MHH Racing Team driver still demonstrated his talent.<\/p>\n

The 2025 edition of the FIA Karting European Championship in KZ2 kicked off in May. The opening round of the three-event series was held in Valencia, Spain. As per tradition, a preparatory race\u2014the Champions of the Future Euro Series\u2014is held one week prior at the same circuit.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Menyh\u00e9rt Kr\u00f3zser was hampered by a poor batch of Dunlop tyres in both events. During the Champions of the Future round on the first weekend of May, this issue prevented him from qualifying for the final.<\/p>\n

\"Kr\u00f3zser<\/p>\n

A week later at the European Championship, he managed to make the most of a difficult situation. Among 62 entrants, he improved his position in all three Qualifying Heats following the Qualifying Practice, and made a strong advance in the Super Heat securing a spot in the Final from 20th place.<\/p>\n

All drivers were given four new tyres for the Final, and this time Menya received a better set. He had an excellent start, but became entangled in a collision and ran off track. Nevertheless, he managed to recover and began making up positions rapidly. However, with just four laps remaining, the chain on his kart snapped, forcing him to retire.<\/p>\n

“This weekend was a real rollercoaster,” said Menyh\u00e9rt Kr\u00f3zser. “Unfortunately, the quality of the Dunlop tyres is very inconsistent, but it seems the FIA is looking to address this under pressure from the teams. I wasn\u2019t the only one affected\u2014many drivers struggled with the tyres.<\/p>\n

\"Kr\u00f3zser<\/p>\n

There\u2019s nothing you can do in such a situation; you just have to accept it and get the best out of it. I managed to improve my position in every heat, and after the Super Heat I was up to 20th. In KZ2, the top 20 is incredibly competitive\u2014anyone can win here.<\/p>\n

For the Final, I finally had a very good set of tyres, and it was a totally different experience running on them. I got caught up in a collision at the start but managed to fight back and made up several positions. It was a great experience racing on tyres with proper grip, which allowed me to run at the same pace as the front-runners.<\/p>\n

Four laps before the end, my chain broke and I had to retire. But looking at the positives: I showed in the Final that under equal conditions, I belong with the leaders. I hope in the next round in Sarno, we\u2019ll get more consistent tyres and I can turn this pace into results.”<\/p>\n
