Just one week after finishing 6th at the Champions of the Future, Menyh\u00e9rt Kr\u00f3zser once again impressed \u2014 this time at the FIA Karting World Championship \u2013 KZ2.<\/p>\n

Despite his team struggling to find the right setup, Kr\u00f3zser\u2019s trademark determination and brilliant opening laps turned things around, salvaging the weekend for the CRG factory team. Across the Heats and the Super Heat, he made up multiple positions, and in the Final, he overtook seven rivals to finish a highly respectable 15th in the world\u2019s strongest KZ2 field.<\/p>\n

\"Kr\u00f3zser<\/p>\n

The KZ2 World Championship represents the pinnacle of gearbox karting, and the 2025 edition in Franciacorta drew a record-breaking 124 entries, surpassing even the previous weekend\u2019s Champions of the Future event, which had 117.<\/p>\n

Although the venue remained the same, the grip level and weather conditions were completely different, forcing drivers and teams to adapt quickly.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe conditions changed, and our package didn\u2019t work as well as it did a week ago. During Free Practice we couldn\u2019t extract the performance we wanted from either the chassis or the engine. We made improvements in every session, but we were still a step behind. I ended up 11th in my Qualifying group and 43rd overall,\u201d explained Kr\u00f3zser.<\/p>\n

\"Kr\u00f3zser<\/p>\n

That meant he had to start all six Heats from 15th on the grid, requiring a very different approach compared to his top-10 starts the week before.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom that position, reaching the Final seemed far away \u2014 but I was determined to make it. To do so, I had to gain several places in every Heat and avoid mistakes, because a single DNF would have ended my weekend.<\/i><\/p>\n

In the midfield everyone is fighting for the same goal \u2014 to qualify for the Final \u2014 so there\u2019s a lot more risk-taking than when you\u2019re running in the top five. You have to be both cautious and aggressive at the same time.<\/i><\/p>\n

\"Kr\u00f3zser<\/p>\n

My starts and first laps were good in all six Heats. Except for one, I always gained positions \u2014 sometimes overtaking seven or eight drivers \u2014 which is not bad in such a strong field.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

Indeed, it wasn\u2019t. Kr\u00f3zser quickly became the standout driver of the CRG factory team, consistently the fastest of their KZ2 line-up. Over the six Heats he gained 14 positions in total, moving up from 43rd to 29th overall \u2014 giving himself a realistic chance of qualifying for the Final. All that remained was to perform well in the Super Heat, which carried double points \u2014 and he delivered again.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a strong race in the Super Heat. It\u2019s really an all-or-nothing race: if you finish well, you move up a lot, but if you crash or retire, you lose everything. Starting 15th, I managed to overtake seven drivers in a very tough race and crossed the line in 8th.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Kr\u00f3zser<\/p>\n

That result moved him up another seven places to 22nd overall before the Final. From there, Kr\u00f3zser continued his charge, once again showing the same determination and racecraft as in the earlier stages.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the Final we finally managed to get the package working quite well. I started from 22nd and finished 15th. Statistically, finishing 15th out of 124 is a solid result \u2014 though I can\u2019t say I\u2019m completely satisfied, as I would have liked to fight at the front.<\/i><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

But considering that after Qualifying we were uncertain about even making the Final, I think we recovered really well. I\u2019m fully satisfied with my own performance; I got everything out of the equipment.<\/i><\/p>\n
