Menyhért Krózser in the lead

Menyhért Krózser competed in very good form at the round 1 of the WSK Final Cup in Lonato. In the 48-strong KZ2 field, he finished 5th in qualifying and fought his way to the front of the field throughout the heats against  much more experienced rivals.

In only his seventh international KZ2 race, Menyhért Krózser again made great progress. The WSK Final Cup, the last big two-weekend series of the season, attracted a very strong field and saw some fierce battles in Lonato, south of Lake Garda.

The adult field was full of experienced drivers, most of whom have been competing in this category for years, but some of whom have decades of experience in KZ2. Menyhért Krózser who has been learning this category since the summer, had to compete with them.

In addition, he has competed with three different brands of rubber in his races so far. He switched to WSK again after the Kartsport Circuit championship race a week ago, but even that couldn’t get him out of his rhythm.

Already in the free practice he was consistently in the top five in a field of 48. He repeated this performance in qualifying, finishing 3rd in his group and 5th overall. He finished in the top ten in both heats and the semi-finals. In the latter, he had his front spoiler fall in and was penalised for it, but still managed to start the final from 10th place.

Here he dropped back to 16th at the start, but made one of the most overtakes in the lead group to climb to 9th. However, his front  spoiler fell again and he was demoted to 17th with a five-second penalty.

“We had a very good weekend,” said Menyhért Krózser, “Qualifying went well, my one-lap pace is getting better in KZ2. I was able to keep up with my more experienced rivals during the races and overtook a lot, which I really enjoyed.

I practiced the standing start earlier and now it’s going well. However, I lost a few positions several times in the first lap, but after that I was always able to get ahead. The dynamics of the first lap is quite different from OK. I need to learn this and I need to polish my technique a bit more.

For my seventh international KZ2 race, I think I did well and I learned a lot that I want to use in the final race of the WSK Final Cup.”

The second weekend of the WSK Final Cup will take place from 23-26 November in Franciacorta, Italy.
