Menyhért Krózser: My best weekend so far – WSK Open Series

Menyhért Krózser was hampered by two accidents at the first round of the WSK Open Series in Franciacorta. Despite this, he put in the best KZ2 performance of his career, and in the semi-final he pulled off a minor miracle.

The KZ2 category has been a real buzz this year. According to the experts, every race at the WSK is like a world championship, the field is so serious and the technical background is so strong week after week.

MHH Racing Team’s Menyhért Krózser is happy about this, as he says that a strong field is the best place to improve. This time was no different.

In the WSK Open Series, the field used LeCont tyres for the first time this year, but Menya had no problem with that. In qualifying, his engine dropped out once on the fastest lap, which cost him a couple of tenths and four or five positions.

He qualified 24th in the 82-strong KZ2 field. In the heats, the track conditions were very variable, but the results were always top 8.

However, in the third heat he was involved in an accident that damaged his kart so badly that he was unable to continue. This is a serious setback in the WSK, but Menya did not give up. He qualified for the semi-finals in 30th place, where he fought his way up to 10th, when he crashed out.

Despite the two collisions, he still missed the final by just two positions.

“I’m obviously not happy with the result, but I still think it was my best weekend in KZ2,” said Menya.

“The LeCont tyres were not a problem, now I can race on practically any tyre and I can be fast on them straight away. In fact, one of the positives of the weekend was my tyre handling.

The two crashes sealed my weekend, my chassis wasn’t in the best condition, but despite that I was able to make a lot of progress in the semi-final.

They say you can learn the most from a difficult weekend, and that was true this time. I’m very motivated and I’m looking forward to proving myself in the next race.”
