Menyhért Krózser: Test race in the world championship field

Menyhért Krózser completed his first international KZ2 race at the World Championship preparation race, the Road to Wackersdorf. This time, however, the focus was not on results, but on preparing the driver.

Road to Wackersdorf, 21-23 July 2023.

This year, Menyhért Krózser switched from the direct-drive OK category to the KZ2, the pinnacle of kart racing. His first races were in the Hungarian championship, where his sole aim was to get to understand the KZ2 kart.

Once he had done that, the MHH Kart Team threw him in the deep end and he made his international debut in the field preparing for the World Championship. Not for nothing, as KZ2 skills such as the standing start and positioning in qualifying and the field can only be learned under pressure and amongst serious competitors.

Part of the preparation race was to test the team’s own chassis and engine, and to gain experience of which manufacturer’s kart and engine Menya could be most successful with.

“It was a preparation race where we were not going for the result,” said Menyhert Krózser, “I started with my own kart and engine, so I was at a disadvantage, but I still took the race very seriously. I tried to make the best out of every circumstance.

As well as gaining experience, the aim was to find areas where I needed to improve. In that respect we had a perfect weekend.

As a racer, it’s hard not to focus on the result, but I know that this is the way to the top, so I had to accept it. What I’ve learned now I can translate into results in the next races.”
