Menyhért Krózser in explosive form ahead of the World Championships

August 26-28, 2022, ACI Italian Karting Championship round 4, Sarno (Italy)  OK category

Menyhért Krózser was in excellent form at the round 4 of the ACI Italian Karting Championship in Sarno. The HUMDA Academy driver made his debut for his new team DPK Racing three weeks before the World Championship and was very fast from the first moment. He finished P6 in the semi-final of the OK category and could have started from here in the final, but he suffered a puncture on the formation lap and had to retire from the race. However, the preparation for the World Championships went well and it is safe to say that Menya will be in the best shape of his career for the World Championships in mid-September.

Menyhért Krózser had his work cut out in the round 4 of the ACI Italian Championship. First of all, he made his debut for Fernando Alonso’s DPK Racing. Getting to learn the new team and the new technical package went very quickly, and from the first few metres he was on the pace.

The weekend was all about getting the most out of the resurfaced Sarno circuit to prepare for the World Championship in Sarno in three weeks’ time. With the help of HUMDA Hungarian Motorsport and Green Mobility Development Agency, Menya was able to do this quickly.

In the 31-strong OK field, which was made up exclusively of competitors preparing for the World Championships, he finished 11th in qualifying. He was knocked out twice in the two heats, but still qualified for the semi-finals in P6.

There, he heroically defended his position to start from P6 in the final. He got away well at the first start, but this was shot back. Menya then felt that the left rear wheel was not gripping and retired from the race with a puncture before the second start.

Although he was not able to show his skills in the final, he still had a very positive weekend, showing his speed with his new team and new package.

“A lot of his work this year has come to an end now,” said Menya’s coach Róbert Kurgyis. “He had to miss races at the beginning of the year due to illness and he had some difficulties to understand the MG tyres. He put a lot of work into his racing this year and the results really showed this weekend.

He is well suited to the DPK Racing package and has settled into the team in no time at all, producing good results straight away. We still have some work to do before the World Championship, but I am very confident.”

“I’m a bit sad about the final,” said Menyhért Krózser. “I feel very comfortable in DPK Racing, we had a good set-up for qualifying and I finally managed to compete with opponents I couldn’t before. I think we’ve got a good package for the world championship and I’m very confident.”
