Menyhért Krózser arrived in great shape for the first weekend of the KZ2 FIA Karting European Championship at Motorland Aragón in Spain. Despite never having raced on this track before, he adapted quickly. His starts were strong, consistently maintaining his starting position even though he mostly started from the outside lane. His results were consistent, but something was missing from the setup to achieve top-tier performance.
“I felt good and was satisfied with my performance,” said the usually self-critical Krózser. “However, the setup just didn’t come together. No matter what we did, we were a few tenths behind.”
“This was my first time racing at Aragón. I liked the track – it’s wide, technical, and really enjoyable. I learned it quickly, and my results were very consistent throughout the weekend. The team tried several things, but we couldn’t make any progress.”
“My starts were good. I almost always started from the outside, which is a big disadvantage on this track since it starts with two right-hand turns. If you can’t slot in, you lose several positions. I always managed to maintain my position.”
“In qualifying and the first four heats, I maintained a consistent level. The last heat was wet, and I thought the technical disadvantage would matter less, so I took a bit of a gamble. I set a purple sector, the first of the weekend, but I took a little too much risk and spun. That was my only mistake.”
“The semi-final went better; I was able to overtake a lot, but stronger heats were needed to make it to the final. The team couldn’t understand why we were so off the pace. Whatever we tried, our gap remained the same.”
“I’m obviously not satisfied with the result, but I feel I got the most out of the weekend. I’m in the best form of my racing career right now. I’m really looking forward to a race where the result depends solely on me, so I can show what I’m capable of.”
“Now there’s a longer break, and the European Championship continues at Val Vibrata at the end of the summer. I’m ready now.”
